Britton Presents "Company 2.0: Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century" at St. Petersburg College Symposium (6/18/09)
Brent Britton, Chair of GrayRobinson's Emerging Business and Technology Practice Group, was featured as the keynote speaker on entrepreneurship at the St. Petersburg College Symposium held June 18, 2009. The presentation, "Company 2.0: Entrepreneurship in the 21st Century," explored the facets, evolution, characteristics, and possibilities of entrepreneurship in the internet age. With half of the world's population owning a cell phone, Britton expanded on the advantages to businesses that utilize the ability to communicate constantly with half the people worldwide. Before hosting a panel of entrepreneurs fielding questions and addressing relevant topics, Britton shared his knowledge and expertise on the realm of new business models, ideas and best practices based on his experience and observations in entrepreneurship. He emphasized the innovative nature and untapped potential of companies following the newer "flat" business model that uses the internet as a resource that reduces special accesses that cost time and money. Britton has experience as outside intellectual property counsel for Wikipedia, software licensing for AOL, and the startup of numerous businesses. A former software engineer, he is the only graduate of the MIT Media Lab to become an attorney. He maintains a blog and co-hosts the CEO Lounge, a weekly podcast and radio show on Talk Radio AM 860 WGUL, on which he interviews the CEOs, entrepreneurs, scientists, and innovators from Tampa Bay and around the world.
