Leonhardt Receives 2009 Lifework Leadership Legacy Award
ORLANDO, Fla. (May 12, 2009) -- Frederick W. Leonhardt, partner with GrayRobinson, will be honored as the 2009 recipient of the Lifework Leadership Legacy Award. The award will be presented by J. Charles "Charlie" Gray, Chairman and Founding Director of GrayRobinson, at Lifework Leadership's annual awards dinner and graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 14 at Faith Hall at First Baptist Church Orlando. Gray received the award in 2005 making this the second time a GrayRobinson attorney has been honored with the Lifework Leadership Legacy Award. The Legacy Award is given to the man or woman who represents the values of Christian leadership excellence and inspires business leaders to pursue their lifework through service. Other previous recipients include Bill Heavener, co-founder, Full Sail University (2008); Glenda Hood, former Mayor, City of Orlando (2007); and W.D. "Bill" Frederick, Jr., Mayor Emeritus, City of Orlando (2006). "Fred has worked tirelessly for our community. His example inspires all of us to strive for excellence in our lives," said Byrd "Biff" Marshall, President of GrayRobinson. "Beyond his exemplary professional success, Fred's civic contributions are simply extraordinary. Our state and our community are better because of him. Of course, we would be remiss to overlook his most important role - as a wonderful husband to Vicki and father of two." A native Central Floridian, Leonhardt has served Central Florida through a range of leadership roles. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the James Madison Institute, the Florida Council of 100, Central Florida Sports Commission and Floridians for Better Transportation. He is a Governor Appointee to the Board of Directors for Enterprise Florida and a member of the National Council for the Boy Scouts of America. Leonhardt has repeatedly been named among the 25 Most Powerful People in Orlando by the Orlando Sentinel. Leonhardt is a past chairman of the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, Florida Chamber Political Institute, Leadership Florida, Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute, Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce, Orlando Area Tiger Bay Club, and Celebration Health Foundation. He also served as president of the Central Florida District Council of Boy Scouts and was a member of the Orange County Charter Review Commission and the University of Central Florida Foundation. He is a graduate of Leadership Florida Class VII and helped to found Leadership Daytona Beach. Leonhardt is a University of Florida Law School Trustee Emeritus and received degrees in psychology and law. After college, he served as counsel to the Florida House of Representatives. He returned to Central Florida and has continuously been in private practice. At GrayRobinson, Leonhardt serves as Chairman of the firm's Policy Board of Directors and Chairman of the Client Development Committee. ###
