Max is a shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Gainesville office. Max prefers to assist his clients by serving as outside general counsel, but is happy to assist clients in narrower representations. He focuses a portion of his practice on intellectual property law with an emphasis on patent drafting, prosecution and litigation, trademark prosecution and litigation, IP licensing and technology transfer. Max also has provided litigation support in several patent and other intellectual property related cases.  Max’s litigation experience includes litigation support for cases involving intellectual property or technology transactions, including patent and trademark infringements, inter partes patent reviews, licensing disputes, and trademark oppositions and cancellations. In addition, he focuses a portion of his practice on corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on private placement transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and corporate reorganizations.

Max has been significantly involved in the startup community in Florida by assisting many emerging growth companies as their general counsel, corporate counsel or intellectual property counsel.  In addition Max has been working with incubators and entrepreneur organizations to provide coaching and learning seminars to support the Florida startup ecosystem.  Max even works as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law where he teaches the “Entrepreneur Legal Practicum” which is a clinic-like course that partners law students with emerging growth companies to assist those companies by providing their legal needs to assist them to be ready for private capital offerings.

Prior to joining GrayRobinson, he opened his own law firm, Maxwell L. Minch Esq. PA, and served as the in-house general counsel for Banyan Biomarkers Inc. During his general counsel Experience, he established the company’s legal and intellectual property department, prepared US and foreign patent applications in the biomedical field, managed the company’s patent portfolio, oversaw the company’s scientific publications, in addition to negotiating the company’s contracts and licenses. Additionally, he helped navigate Department of Defense and National Institute of Health grant compliance and assisted with interpretation of FDA regulations for negotiating clinical trial agreements for the approval of a medical diagnostic.

After receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, Max went on to complete a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at UF. Prior to this, he received his Bachelors of Science in Nuclear Engineering, also from UF.  

Max generously served in our Naval forces for six years, four of which were aboard submarines. He completed Electronics Technician ‘A’ School, Naval Nuclear Power School and served aboard the USS Pasadena (SSN752) as electronics technician and reactor operator.
