Biography

Rebecca Rodriguez is an associate attorney in the firm’s Fort Lauderdale and Miami offices.  Her practice focuses on a vast array of industry-related litigation and administrative matters, including international trade issues and regulatory compliance for corporate clients.

Rebecca has handled various federal compliance issues related to product labeling, misbranding,  adulteration, and voluntary recalls before the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). She is experienced at filing administrative petitions on behalf of food importers for cancelation, mitigation and/or remission of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) liquidated damages claims assessed for various regulatory violations. She is also familiar with filing FDA Import Alert Removal Requests and filing responses to FDA Warning Letters (Form 483), FDA Notices of Detention Without Physical Examination (DWPE), and FDA Notices of Action. Rebecca is also a published author on the evolving FDA regulations governing gluten-free food and beverage label claims.

Background

Rebecca was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After attending Coral Reef Senior High in Miami, Florida, she attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where she received her bachelor's degree in anthropology. She then earned her master of science in criminal justice from Florida International University.

Rebecca attended law school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While in law school, Rebecca served as the associate executive editor for the ILSA Journal of International and Comparative Law.  She was also awarded The Florida Bar Gift Award, the book award in Antitrust Law, the SunTrust Bank Florence Bayuk Trust Scholarship for two consecutive school years, and the Florida Association of Realtors Education Foundation Scholarship. In 2012, Rebecca represented Nova Law as one of two selected international negotiations competitors in Washington D.C.
