MIAMI, FL – March 21, 2019 - GrayRobinson’s customs lawyer Peter Quinter, shareholder and chair of the U.S. Customs and International Trade Law Group located in the firm’s Miami law firm and Fort Lauderdale law firm offices, presented on the “U.S. Government Policies Regarding Imported Seafood” at the Seafood Expo North America on March 18, 2019. The panel addressed 3 topics:

  • Section 301 25% Extra Tariffs Against Chinese Seafood
  • FDA Import Alerts – how non-U.S. seafood suppliers get on the automatic detention list
  • The process to get them off the list, and Penalties by U.S. Customs against seafood companies that attempt to import adulterated or mislabeled seafood, or fail to destroy or export seafood imported into the United States that is refused by the FDA.
