GrayRobinson Lobbying Team Helps Deliver Major Economic Investment for Central Florida

MLB New Home to Aerion Headquarters and Campus, Bringing 675 New Jobs and $300M in Private Investment

Orlando, FL – April 24, 2020 – The GrayRobinson lobby team, led by Christopher T. Dawson and Robert F. Stuart, Jr., played a vital role in securing Orlando Melbourne International Airport (MLB) as the new home to Aerion Supersonic’s (Aerion) worldwide headquarters. Additionally, MLB will also be home to Aerion’s new state-of-the-art, integrated campus for research, design, build, and maintenance of its supersonic aircrafort

Spending several months working with the Governor DeSantis Administration, including the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity and Florida Department of Transportation, Dawson and Stuart were able to help deliver this significant state investment to the airport and Central Florida.  This success also includes securing a Jobs Growth Grant Fund award from Governor Ron DeSantis to provide infrastructure at MLB to support this project, as well as other development initiatives at the airport.

Thanks to all involved in this important investment project, Florida will see 675 new jobs and $300 million in private investments. In a press release issued by the Governor’s office several comments were made in support of the project, including:

"The Space Coast has become a hub for the aviation and aerospace industry, and my administration continues to make it a priority to expand this high-wage and important business sector," said Governor DeSantis. "We are thrilled that Aerion has selected Melbourne for its new global headquarters and look forward to the company’s success."

"Today’s announcement is great news for Brevard County," said Jamal Sowell, Florida Secretary of Commerce and EFI president and CEO. "Florida’s strong talent pipeline and low tax business climate continue to make it top of mind for businesses looking to relocate. We look forward to Aerion’s success as they start a new chapter in the Sunshine State."

"We are incredibly honored and thrilled to bring this news to our community at a time when it’s needed the most," said Greg Donovan, A.A.E., executive director at MLB. "We are proud to be the location of the future where Aerion will innovate, create and introduce new technologies and products to the aviation industry worldwide."
