Kelly Garcia Featured in The Federal Lawyer

ORLANDO, FL – February 28, 2020 –  Kelly J.H. Garcia, shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Orlando law firm office, was featured in the January/February 2020 edition of The Federal Lawyer. As the Federal Bar Association celebrates their centennial anniversary, it reflects on the organization’s steady achievements in diversity and inclusion. The magazine’s article "The Year of the Woman…Presidents," focuses on the back-to-back-to-back women presidents of the Orlando Chapter, in which Garcia is asked to reflect on her previous term as 2016-2017 Orlando Chapter President. The article highlights that while serving as president-elect, Garcia participated in the FBA’s Capitol Hill Day, meeting with several of Florida’s congressional staff as well as Senator Bill Nelson. As president, she also led the collaboration between the Orlando Chapter and Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida to initiate the pro se clinic services held at the Orlando Division Courthouse. Garcia reveals "listening to membership and working cohesively as a team," as the traits she thinks great leaders possess in the series of questions asked by the magazine. When asked "What are some strategies that can help women achieve more prominent roles in voluntary bar leadership?", Garcia responds "The recruitment, encouragement, and mentoring of other women into these roles is essential. You cannot simply say it; you must do it." Lastly, her advice to the next generation of female leaders is "support, encourage, and mentor other women."
