TTB Update: Temporary Voluntary Disclosure Program Ends December 31, 2019

TAMPA, FL – December 20, 2019 – The Federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau ("TTB") recently announced that its Temporary Voluntary Disclosure period officially ends on December 31, 2019. The program was designed to encourage alcohol industry members to voluntarily disclose tardy reportable corporate changes using a streamlined process and no enforcement action.  Details regarding this program are described in TTB Industry Circular 2019-2, which is accessible at the agency’s Website: https://www.ttb.gov/industry-circulars/ttb-industry-circulars-19-2

This does not mean that the TTB’s general Voluntary Disclosure Program ends. The general program has been a long standing policy of the TTB since 2004, when it was announced in TTB Industry Circular 2004-5. The general Voluntary Disclosure Policy was created by TTB to encourage self-reporting and compliance, and can encompass any compliance violation (not just tardy reportable corporate changes).  Details regarding the general Voluntary Disclosure Program are accessible online at: https://www.ttb.gov/images/industry_circulars/archives/2004/04-05.html
