Labor and Employment E-lert - Florida's Minimum Wage Set to Increase January 2019

Effective January 1, 2019, Florida’s Minimum Wage will increase by twenty-one cents from $8.25 to $8.46, and for tipped employees, the increase will also be by twenty-one cents, from $5.23 an hour to $5.44 per hour.

On October 15th of each year, the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity is required to publish the new state minimum wage on its website to be effective the following January 1st. The increase is calculated based on a percentage increase in the consumer price index for the south region and the new rate must be posted at each work site. Florida’s minimum wage posters are available at no charge here.
