Community Leader Forum – Tampa – State Senator Jack Latvala

TAMPA, FL – August 19, 2016 – On August 18, 2016, GrayRobinson’s Tampa law firm office hosted a Government Community Leader Forum featuring Florida State Senator Jack Latvala. Attorney David L. Smith, Managing Shareholder of the Tampa office, hosted the lunch held at the University Club in downtown, Tampa.  Senator Latvala’s presentation was titled, "Regionalism: Challenges and Opportunities."

Senator Latvala focused on issues important to the local community, including proposed sales tax changes, higher education and an environmental crisis surrounding this summer’s algae bloom and its impact on the state's beaches and tourism industry. Senator Latvala also did not shy away from addressing budget challenges and dealing with deceased available funds this fiscal year. 

Senator Jack Latvala currently represents the represents Florida's 20th District, which includes Largo, Clearwater, Belleair, Safety Harbor, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs and Oldsmar. He currently serves as Chair of the Transportation, Tourism and Economic Development Budget Subcommittee and is a member of the Senate Appropriations, Commerce and Tourism, Governmental Oversight and Accountability, Regulated Industries and Rules committees.

Senator Latvala has been involved in helping craft the major policy decisions impacting Florida for nearly two decades. Combining both of his terms of service, more than 175 pieces of legislation sponsored by Senator Latvala have become law.
