Health Law E-lert: Federal Government Delays Transition to ICD-10

On April 1, 2014, the President signed into law the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014.  Section 212 of this law prohibits the Secretary of Health and Human Services from adopting the ICD-10 code sets as the standard prior to October 1, 2015.  Accordingly, ICD-9 will remain the standard code set until at least October 1, 2015, absent an intervening change in the law.
