Kristie Hatcher-Bolin Quoted in Courthouse News Service Article

LAKELAND, FL – April 24, 2020 – Kristie Hatcher-Bolin, shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Lakeland law firm office, was quoted in the Courthouse News Service article, "Confederate Groups Fight to Revive Lawsuit Over Florida Statue Removal". The article recaps the legal battle in the Eleventh Circuit over the removal of a Confederate monument from Lakeland’s Munn Park.  The April 23, 2020 oral argument was held by phone because of the Covid-19 outbreak. An attorney for members of several Confederate heritage groups asked a three-judge panel of the Atlanta-based appeals court to reinstate their lawsuit challenging the relocation of a Confederate soldier statue from a downtown park in Lakeland based on alleged free speech clause violations. "Appellants can still exercise their rights," and therefore lack standing and have no claim for free speech violations, said Hatcher-Bolin, who represents Lakeland city officials.
