Biography

Stephen is a senior associate in GrayRobinson's Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville offices. He focuses his practice on matters relating to regulated products, including alcohol beverage and food law. Stephen’s areas of experience include alcohol beverage and food labeling requirements and compliance matters, as well as brand development and protection. In the area of intellectual property, Stephen’s experience includes patent, trademark and copyright matters, with an emphasis on patent prosecution and litigation. Prior to law school, Stephen earned a bachelor of science degree in molecular biology and microbiology from the University of Central Florida and a doctorate in medical sciences with a specialization in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.

Background

Prior to law school, Stephen earned his doctorate in medical sciences with a specialization in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Florida’s College of Medicine.  As a graduate student, and later as a postdoctoral associate, he focused his research on elucidating the mechanism of DNA replication in E. coli.  Stephen has also performed research in the areas of virology, cell biology, microbiology, biophysics, cancer biology and infectious disease.  Stephen’s understanding of a broad range of scientific disciplines, coupled with his knowledge of intellectual property law, uniquely qualifies him to work with a diverse range of biomedical clients.
