TALLAHASSEE, FL – March 2, 2020 – GrayRobinson's government affairs and lobbying practice group released its weekly GRay Matters Session newsletter, "2020 Session: Week 7". The week started with an explosive hearing in the ongoing investigation into the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV), the newsletter reveals. "The Florida House of Representatives" section discusses how the Higher Appropriations Committee advanced a plan to merge New College and Florida Polytechnic University into the University of Florida. The Florida Senate section discusses a bill aimed at reforming the Department of Children and Families that was approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee. The "Bill of the Week" is House Bill 745, sponsored by Representative Scott Plakon, which would add hemp and medical marijuana both back on the list of banned substances in jails, prisons, and juvenile detention facilities, and expand the contraband lists to include a couple other items. The "Client Spotlight" highlights Devereux, and the newsletter closes out with the "Looking Ahead" section, discussing the next week’s committee meetings. Read the full newsletter here.
