ORLANDO, FL – June 10, 2016 – Attorney Thomas A. Cloud, B.C.S., shareholder in GrayRobinson’s Orlando office and current City Attorney for Fort Meade, together with shareholder Rachael M. Crews of GrayRobinson's Orlando office and of counsel attorney Monterey Campbell of GrayRobinson's Lakeland office, recently secured a favorable order for the city in the case City of Ft. Meade v. Biosolids Distribution Services, LLC. The case was centered around the company Biosolids, who in an earlier lawsuit, agreed to leave Fort Meade by December 2016. As part of the settlement, the company was allowed to operate but the city was allowed to monitor wastewater leaving the Biosolids site and set rates. Last fall, the wastewater dramatically thickened, leading the city commission to adjust rates specifically for wastewater containing high volumes of solids. Biosolids’ water bills tripled after the rate adjustment, leading the company to bring the case to court, arguing that their earlier settlement with the city prohibited such a rate increase. The judge disagreed. Read more in The Ledger article “Judge Backs Fort Meade in Biosolids Lawsuit.”
